Portuguese[edit]

Etymology[edit]

While ibope comes from IBOPE, an acronym for Instituto Brasileiro de Opinião Pública e Estatística (Brazilian Institute of Public Opinion and Statistics), which is responsible for showing popular opinion on, among other things, TV shows, dar ibope could have originated from the larger preference that people give to a specific show in a particular time, making this show experience a temporary popularity.
