From Japanese 道場長 (dōjōchō, literally dojo chief, dojo head).

dojocho (plural dojochos)

  1. The head of a Japanese dōjō (martial arts training facility).

Usage notes[edit]

The dojocho is not always the chief instructor or highest ranked person, but has an administrative role, or has ownership of the dōjō. The title is used in Japanese martial arts such as judo, karate, kendo, aikido, etc.
