From Proto-Nuristani *drāsā́ (whence Kamkata-viri drós, Prasuni rásik, Tregami drás, Waigali dras), from earlier *draHsáH, alteration of Proto-Indo-Iranian *dʰráHȷ́žʰaH (“grape, vine”) (whence Sanskrit द्राक्षा (drā́kṣā)), from Proto-Indo-European *dʰréh₂ǵ-seh₂ (whence Albanian dredhëz (“strawberry”)), from *dʰreh₂ǵ- (“berry”) (whence Latin frāgum (“strawberry”)).
