From Latin dracō, from Ancient Greek δράκων (drákōn). Compare Spanish drago, Portuguese drago. Compare the registry coexistence in Sicily of the surnames Rau (and Rao) and the italianized Drago;[1] this latter is strictly Sicilian and differs from the Italian Draghi,[2] which is instead typically recorded in the plural.
