From Ancient Greek ἐν- (en-, in) + κρίνον (krínon, lily): compare French encrinite.

encrinite (plural encrinites)

  1. (paleontology, obsolete) A fossil crinoid, especially one belonging to, or resembling, the genus Encrinus.
  2. A type of grain-supported bioclastic sedimentary rock in which all or most of the grains are crinoid ossicles.
