Romanian[edit]

Alternative forms[edit]

Etymology[edit]

Inherited from Latin fabricāre, present active infinitive of fabricō (which originally had to do with the forging of iron; see also fabrica, borrowed from this word and thus an etymological doublet, along with forja), and perhaps influenced by fier; another etymology links it to a Vulgar Latin root *ferricāre, from ferrum (compare Old French enfergier). Compare Aromanian fãric, fãricari.[1]

Verb[edit]

a fereca (third-person singular present ferecă, past participle ferecat) 1st conj.

  1. to hoop
  2. to chain, fetter
  3. to strengthen by adding metal (such as a wheel)
