Etymology[edit]
From a confusion of the dialectal word gvine (standard Norwegian hvine/kvine (“whine, make a high-pitched sound”)) with grine (“cry, shed tears”).[1]
Verb[edit]
- run well (literally “go in such a way that there's crying”)
- Motoren går så det griner.
- The motor runs well.
