glass shot (plural glass shots)

  1. (film) The shooting of a scene with part of the background painted on glass rather than constructed as an actual set.
    • 2009, James Monaco, How to Read a Film: Movies, Media, and Beyond, page 149:
      Glass shots are possibly the simplest of special effects. The technique involved placing a glass several feet in front of the camera and in effect painting over the area of the scene that must be changed.
