- (Western Pennsylvania) Synonym of rubber band
- 1993, Walter Buzz Storey, Stories of Uniontown and Fayette County, page 193:
- Some of the guns were made “automatic” by carving extra notches, making it possible to load two or three gumbands at a time. The epitome was the machine gun, a long board with five or six notches — a strip of cloth would be stretched over them, then the gumbands on top of it.
