1. (science fiction) A flying taxicab.
   • 1951, Isaac Asimov, “Hostess”, in Nightfall and Other Stories, Green City, N.Y.: Doubleday & Company, Inc., published 1969, page 76:

     They were not there waiting for her, after all. She came upon them getting out of a gyrocab just as she emerged from the tubes a on to street level. The gyrocabbie, wide-eyed, gazed after his fares for a moment, then hovered upward and away.
