Etymology[edit]

Inherited from Ottoman Turkish حشری (haşarı, haşeri, of the class of professional vagrants, vagabonds; hence, a wild, dissolute, lascivious man or beast),[1][2][3] from Arabic حَشَرة (ḥašara, insect, small creeping animal) with ـِيّ (-iyy) nisba suffix.[4]
