Etymology[edit]
Morphologically hassa- + -lla (adessive singular) with a possessive suffix. The common meaning in this word and other words using the same root hassa-, like hassata (“to waste, squander”) and hassu (“funny, silly”), is "soft, fragile; messy, splaying".[1] Possibly ultimately of sound-symbolic origin.
