head boat (plural head boats)

  1. A fishing vessel/marine craft that is for-hire on a per person basis. A Head Boat[1] or "Charter" are vessels issued a Certificate of Inspection (COI) issued by the U.S. Coast Guard to carry greater than six passengers-for-hire for the purposes of engaging in recreational fishing.
