Etymology

[edit]

From hell (bright) +‎ licht (bright, light, lit). Often interpreted, however, as hell + -icht (as in Dickicht, etc.), for which reason the now nonstandard spelling hellicht remains current.

[edit]
  • IPA(key): /ˈhɛlɪçt/, /ˈhɛl.lɪçt/
  • Audio:(file)

Adjective

[edit]

helllicht (strong nominative masculine singular helllichter, not comparable)

  1. (chiefly attributive) bright (with daylight; of the sky or a time of day)
