Learned borrowing from Late Latin heteroclitus, from Ancient Greek ἑτερόκλιτος (heteróklitos), from ἕτερος (héteros, other, another, different) + κλίνω (klínō, lean, incline), the latter from Proto-Indo-European *ḱley-.
