hot seal (countable and uncountable, plural hot seals)

  1. A method of applying a piece of embroidered or printed fabric (i.e. a patch) to another piece of fabric by using a heat activated adhesive.
  2. The adhesive backing itself.
    It was easy add his the new merit badge to his uniform because the patch had a hot seal backing.
