Etymology[edit]

Originally ‘snout’, from Proto-Albanian *skuntā, from *skuna (take, pole) (modern hu), close to or derived from Proto-Germanic *skuna, *skunō (compare Faroese skon, Norwegian skut (projection, overhang)).[1][2] More at hu.
