Plurale tantum; with prothetic h- from dialectal urdhe, plural of dialectal urdhë, from Proto-Albanian *wurdā, from Proto-Indo-European *wr̥dʰo (sweetbriar) (compare Old English word (thorn-bush), dialectal Norwegian erre, orr (bush), Latin rubus (bramble)). Standard Albanian has urth, originally a dialectal form.
