Borrowed from Korean 향찰(鄕札) (hyangchal), either Revised Romanization or Yale romanization.

hyangchal (uncountable)

  1. A method of using Chinese characters to write pure ancient Korean texts, used in Sillan hyangka / hyangga poetry. It is similar to the Japanese practice of Man'yōgana.
