Etymology[edit]
Borrowed from Arabic إِدْمَان (ʔidmān), the verbal noun of أَدْمَنَ (ʔadmana, “to do continually, to cleave to, to devote oneself to; to be addicted to”) . For the development of senses, compare Azerbaijani vərdiş, vərziş.
