Etymology[edit]
Internationalism, borrowed from Dutch informatie (“information”), from Middle French informacion, enformacion (Modern French information), and their source, Latin īnfōrmātiō (“formation, conception; education”), from the participle stem of īnfōrmō (“to inform”). Cognate with Afrikaans informasie (“information”).
