Etymology[edit]

Inherited from Ottoman Turkish كوپورمك (köpürmek, to froth), from Proto-Turkic *köpür- (to foam), a development of *köp- (to swell). Cognate with Old Turkic [script needed] (köpür-), Southern Altai кӧбӱр- (köbür-, to foam), etc.
