Hungarian[edit]

Etymology[edit]

Probably introduced by Hungarian soldiers stationing in northern Italy. Influenced by kapiál (to understand, comprehend) (archaic), also from Latin capiō (to take in, understand).[1] Compare German kapieren (to understand). Doublet of kapacitás.
