Etymology 1[edit]

Klanas (1) - Puddle

Cognate with Proto-Slavic *klonъ (fold, bend). From Proto-Balto-Slavic *klánas, probably from Proto-Indo-European *(s)kel- (to crook, to bend). The original meaning was "a depression". klónis (valley) is from the same root.
