From an older chimneysweep slang word knopare (chimneysweep) +‎ moj, from Tavringer Romani muj, måj, möj, måjj (mouth), from Romani mui (mouth), compare English mooey (mouth, face). Related to Sanskrit मुख (mukha, mouth, face).
