White Hmong[edit]

Etymology[edit]

From a syllable of unknown function kua + txob ((in compounds) pepper).

This etymology is missing or incomplete. Please add to it, or discuss it at the Etymology scriptorium.
Particularly: “Could kua be a more recent borrowing from Chinese (guā, “melon, cucumber”)? Capsicum-type peppers aren't too dissimilar to cucumbers in texture.”
