linear foot (plural linear feet)

  1. A unit of length equal to one foot long.

Usage notes[edit]

Primarily used for building materials, as a unit of amount (not distance), particularly in contrast with square foot. For example, 2 linear feet of 6 inch wide board is 1 square foot of board.
