- A person who is elected to serve as a member of a council, board, subcommittee or other decision-making organ in a municipality, association, foundation etc.
Usage notes[edit]
- Not having the connotation of referring specifically to a male or female, this word is regarded as recommendable over luottamusmies and luottamusnainen, but especially the shop stewards of both sexes continue to be referred to as luottamusmies.
