Kashubian[edit]

Alternative forms[edit]

Etymology[edit]

Borrowed from Low German moin. Cognate to Saterland Frisian moin.

Pronunciation[edit]

  • IPA(key): /ˈmɔjn/
  • Syllabification: mòjn

Interjection[edit]

mòjn

  1. hi! hello!

Usage notes[edit]

Kashubians using this exclamation do not labialize "o", even though it is in a usually labialized position, just as they do not labialize "o" in "akordion" [The Kashubian Language Council recommends writing "ò" here]
