From Proto-Vietic *muːs (nose), from Proto-Mon-Khmer *muh ~ *muuh ~ *muus (nose); cognates include Khmer ច្រមុះ (crɑmoh), Bahnar muh, Khasi khmut, Mon မိုဟ်, Car Nicobarese meh.
