Inherited from Proto-Slavic *maxnǫti. By surface analysis, machać + -nąć.

- (intransitive) to wave, to wag (to move one's hand back and forth repeatedly)
- (transitive, colloquial) to do something quickly or poorly
- (transitive, colloquial) to knock off, to knock out, to complete
- (reflexive with się, colloquial) to go or drive somewhere quickly
- (reflexive with się, colloquial) to make a mistake in counting
