Etymology[edit]

mega- +‎ warhol

Noun[edit]

megawarhol (plural megawarhols)

  1. A unit of fame equal to 1 million warhols, or 15 million minutes of fame (about 28.5 years).
    • 2013 November 8, Anupum Pant, “10 Fancy Units of Measurement”, in Awesci[1]:
Consequently, 1 kilowarhol is equal to 15,000 minutes of fame or 10.42 days and 1 megawarhol measures 15 million minutes of fame or about 28.5 years.
    • 2007, Mark Kingwell, Nearest Thing to Heaven, page 40:
Kitsch versions of the image augur well: we're talking at least a megawarhol icon or better (that's 15 million minutes of fame, which is just over 10,400 days, or about 28.5 years— enough to get you to those standard silver-anniversary retrospectives). No kitsch, no staying power: a hundred kilowarhols or less, a minicon.
    • 2017 May 17, Sip Advisor, “Mixer Mania #20 – Measure of Success”, in Sip Advisor[2]:
Some folks out there who have achieved kilowarhol and megawarhol status, still haven’t left the world with anything tangible… you know, your Kardashians, et al.

Usage notes[edit]

  • While megawarhols are traditionally used to measure fame, they can also be used to measure time in intervals of 15 million minutes.
