model shop (plural model shops)

  1. A retail outlet that sells models (noun, sense 3), or kits to make them.
    • 2012, Andrew Martin, Underground Overground: A passenger's history of the Tube, Profile Books, →ISBN, page 269:
You can't just walk into a model shop and buy little Tube trains, although you could for a brief period in the Fifties, when Eveready made a model Underground train, to advertise the battery that powered it. So Underground modellers work from 'scratch' - that is, they make their own stuff, or adapt.
