Zhuang[edit]

Etymology[edit]

From Proto-Tai *laːjᴬ (saliva); cognate with Bouyei naaiz. The irregular initial, which points to *ml-, is possibly due to rebracketing the -m from *C̬.namꟲ (water); compare Thai น้ำลาย (náam-laai, saliva), Bouyei ramxnaaiz.[1]
