Alternative forms[edit]
Etymology[edit]
By surface analysis, n- (“distaff”) + cunocchia + -ari. From Vulgar Latin *inconucŭlāre. Possibly from in- + *conucŭlāre (“distaff”), this latter derives from the dissimilation of Latin colucŭla, diminutive of Latin colus. Compare Italian conocchia.
