Etymology 1[edit]

From Proto-Albanian *nemska, from Proto-Indo-European *nem (to divide, to take, to arrange, to count). Cognate to Greek νέμω (némo, to divide), Gothic niman (to take), Latin numerus (member, element, number), nummus (coin, money).[1] More and more replaced by the loanword numëroj.
