   • 2001, Jonathan W. Warren, Racial Revolutions: Antiracism and Indian Resurgence in Brazil:

     Proexorcist forces such as the military and those with vested interests in Indian lands and resources fought unsuccessfully to make a distinction between acculturated and nonacculturated Indians, whereby only the latter would enjoy the rights guaranteed to Indians in the Constitution.

     The results, displayed in figure 3.3, show that increasing acculturation is associated with significantly higher probabilities of many types of violence: Youth who live in fully acculturated households are significantly mroe likely to hit someone, throw objects at someone, and be in a gang fight than those from nonacculturated households; while youth from partially acculturated households are significantly more likely to hit someone and be in a gang fight than those from nonacculturated households.
