Etymology[edit]
From Proto-Hmong-Mien *ntshjamX (“blood”). Cognate with Iu Mien nziaamv; outside of Hmong-Mien, compare Proto-Mon-Khmer *jhaam (“id”), whence Khmer ឈាម (chiəm, “id”).[1]
