Etymology[edit]
From Proto-Igboid *ò-cĩ̀-mìɗĩ̀. Cognate with Ekpeye òlìmìnì, Ogbah òzĩ̀mìnì, Ezaa òsùmìnì, Ukwuani-Aboh-Ndoni òsùmìlì.[1] Likely cognate to a name for an ancient Yoruba river Yoruba Ẹ̀sìnmìrìn, see Yoruba omi (“water”).
