Etymology[edit]

Inherited from Sanskrit पर्युष्ट (paryuṣṭa), with reinforcement (if not reformation) from the past participle vuttha of vasati (to dwell). Compare Prakrit 𑀧𑀭𑀺𑀯𑀼𑀢𑁆𑀣 (parivuttha).
