- whistle (a device designed to be placed in the mouth and blown, or driven by steam or some other mechanism, to make a whistling sound)
- (uncommon) siren (a device, either mechanical or electronic, that makes a piercingly loud sound as an alarm or signal, or the sound from such a device)
