Borrowed from a Turkic source. Cognates include Turkish kışlık, (colloquial) kışlak, kışla (barracks), Azerbaijani qışlaq, Uyghur قىشلاق (qishlaq), Karakhanid قِشْلاغْ (qıšlaɣ), Old Turkic 𐰴𐰃𐰽𐰞𐰍 (qis¹l¹ǧ) and Yakut кыстык (kıstık).
