Etymology[edit]
From the shared title of three works of St. Augustine, Medieval Latin Quinquagena either directly or via French quinquagene, from Latin quīnquāgēnus (“50 each”), distributive form of quīnquāgintā (“50”). Cognate with quinquagent.
