Old Irish[edit]
Etymology[edit]
From Proto-Celtic *rādīti (compare Welsh (ad)rodd), from Proto-Indo-European *Hreh₁dʰ- (“to arrange”) (compare Sanskrit राध्नोति (rādhnoti), राध्यति (rādhyati, “to perform successfully”), Old Church Slavonic радити (raditi, “to take care of, work”), Gothic 𐍂𐍉𐌳𐌾𐌰𐌽 (rōdjan, “to talk”), Lithuanian rodýti (“to show”).
