  2. (reflexive or intransitive) to become cooler; to lose heat; to cool down
  3. to become less active; to cool down, cool off
  4. (transitive) to strongly reduce or diminish something such as interest, zeal, etc.
  5. (slang) to ice, to murder

Conjugation[edit]

This is a regular verb of the second conjugation, like finir, choisir, and most other verbs with infinitives ending in -ir. One salient feature of this conjugation is the repeated appearance of the infix -iss-.
