robber steak (plural robber steaks)

  1. A dish of bacon, beef, onion, and capsicum roasted over flames on a skewer.
    • 1897, Bram Stoker, Dracula, published 1993, page 13:
      I dined on what they call "robber steak" - bits of bacon, onion and beef, seasoned with red pepper, and strung on sticks and roasted over the fire, in the simple style of the London cat's-meat!
