Etymology

From rope (in reference to its use in suicide by hanging) +‎ -maxx (suffix forming verbs relating to maximizing one's beauty or some other attribute); ironically offered as an alternative to other solutions to one's lack of beauty, such as looksmaxxing, when it is deemed that redeeming one's appearance is impossible and the only way to fix it would be to kill oneself, praying to be reincarnated in a more attractive body.
