Etymology

From New Latin scatophagus, from Ancient Greek σκατοφάγος (skatophágos), from σκατο- (skato-, “shit”) and φάγος (phágos, “eating”), from φᾰγεῖν (phageîn, “to eat”) + -ος (-os, “-ous”, forming adjectives). Equivalent to scato- +‎ -phagous.
