scrub hare (plural scrub hares)

  1. Lepus saxatilis, a hare found in southern Namibia, Mozambique, South Africa, Swaziland and Lesotho. The fur on the dorsal side is grizzled-gray with small black spots; on the ventral side, it is all white.
