Etymology[edit]

Coined by American comedian George Carlin, when he listed the words in his 1972 monologue "Seven Words You Can Never Say on Television".

  1. A parody of seven deadly sins, seven English-language curse words, often referred to as being the most obscene. The words, in the order George Carlin originally listed them, are: shit, piss, fuck, cunt, cocksucker, motherfucker, and tits.
